Project Type New Build
Client Parklane Retirement Village Ltd (Arvida Group)
Following an Early Contractor Engagement and value-engineering process, Armitage Williams was appointed as main contractor for this $7.21 million, 1,600m² health and wellbeing facility at Parklane Retirement Village.
The two-storey development includes an open-plan café, hair and beauty studio, fully equipped gym, swimming and spa pools, changing facilities, function and staff rooms, and a physiotherapy practice. The project also incorporated extensive external works, including hard and soft landscaping to surrounding courtyards and connections with earlier stages of the village.
The building combines precast concrete, structural steel, interspan flooring and timber framing, supported on a gravel raft above 389 stone columns. Construction was impacted by the COVID-19 lockdown and subsequent restrictions, requiring careful resequencing of works to maintain the programme and successfully deliver the completed facility.
