For more than 40 years, Armitage Williams has been building places where people work, learn, heal and connect. Established in Christchurch in 1985, the company has grown steadily through a commitment to quality construction, trusted relationships and delivering on the promises made to clients.
What began as a local commercial construction business has evolved into a respected main contractor delivering projects throughout the South Island across healthcare, aged care, education, commercial and industrial sectors. While the scale and complexity of projects has grown, the philosophy has remained the same - build with integrity, collaborate openly and take pride in every detail.
Today, Armitage Williams combines decades of experience with a forward-thinking approach to construction, supported by an experienced leadership team, a highly skilled workforce and long-standing relationships with clients and industry partners. Every project reflects the company's belief that exceptional buildings are achieved through collaboration, craftsmanship and a genuine commitment to quality.
Our Leadership
Ben Harrow
Ben is a qualified quantity surveyor with international experience and over 20 years at Armitage Williams, now serving as our Managing Director. He plays a key role in project procurement and ECI delivery, bringing strong expertise in cost management, reporting, and driving practical, sustainable, and cost‑effective design solutions.

Mason Williams
Mason is an executive director with extensive experience delivering large‑scale commercial projects, supported by an international background in project management. Known for his hands‑on approach, he provides strategic oversight, project planning, and programme support from design development through to commissioning, with a strong focus on sustainability and effective stakeholder relationships.

We believe great buildings are built by great teams. That belief is reflected in the number of people who have chosen to build long and rewarding careers with us. Today, one-third of our team has been with the company for more than 10 years, while many have celebrated 20 years or more with Armitage Williams. Their knowledge, loyalty and mentorship provide continuity across our projects and help foster the collaborative culture we're known for.
From our site teams and directly employed carpenters to project managers, quantity surveyors and support staff, every person plays an important role in delivering successful outcomes. Together, we share a commitment to quality, open communication and building lasting relationships with our clients, consultants and subcontractors.
