The Black Estate Cellar Door is an award-winning destination that seamlessly combines architecture, hospitality and the surrounding North Canterbury landscape. Designed by RTA Studio, the development comprises a visitor centre with wine tasting and retail spaces, café and commercial kitchen, offices, visitor accommodation, and extensive outdoor terraces set within thoughtfully landscaped grounds.

Constructed using natural concrete block and dark-stained timber, the building reflects the character of its rural setting while embracing sustainable design principles and exceptional craftsmanship. Recognised with multiple New Zealand Institute of Architects awards and featured on The Art of the Architect, the project stands as a testament to the successful collaboration between client, architect and contractor in delivering a distinctive and enduring architectural landmark.
